According to reports, an as yet to be named EA franchise will be adapted for social gaming venues like the iPhone and iPod Touch in coming months. The Wall Street Journal has reported that social gaming powerhouse Playfish, which was acquired by Electronic Arts last year to the tune $300 million, will be developing an existing EA intellectual property for social platforms. Social games already have an incredibly large following – Apple’s App Store has become a virtual clearing house for social gaming, with over 140,000 applications available. Moreover, the App Store, via Apple’s iTunes, has more than 125 million paying customers ready to download the next great game.
